Boke, bokeh, out of focus highlight rendition, any way you mushmouth it, we’re talking about what the out of focus areas of your picture look like. People discuss it, analyze it, some will go so far as to rate it or emulate it via software. It is, without a doubt, among the most masturbatory areas of photographic discussion, right up there with UV filters.
Stop concentrating on the part of the image you’re not focusing on, already. Look at your favorite images, those that make you want to take pictures. How much time did you spend looking at their bokeh, at their out-of-focus elements? That’s exactly how long you should spend looking at your bokeh.
Cause really, the only people who actually care about bokeh are other photographers, and only the douchebag ones.
